In central European legend, Krampus is a half-goat, half-demon monster that punishes naughty children at Christmastime. Krampus, along with his counterpart St. Nicholas are said to arrive on the evening of Dec 5, St. Nicholas leaving small gifts for well-behaved children to find in the morning, while Krampus threatens the misbehaved with a bundle of sticks.
This sinfully delicious ode to the Christmas demon is as dark as his dark tale, and as a nod to Krampus’ bundle of sticks we’ve added juniper boughs directly to the mash. The hint of juniper as well as the piney, resinous Simcoe and Chinook hops strike just the right balance between naughty and nice.
